Join Molly Lawson, Associate Curator for Community Engagement, for narrated presentations of Living Color: The Art of the Highwaymen! Students will explore the art and history of the Highwaymen, a group of African American landscape painters whose subjects were Florida’s scenic coastlines and wild backcountry.
Students will experience a 20-minute virtual tour and discover what life was like for these artists from the 1950s through 1980s, and how they depicted brilliant Florida landscape scenes that became iconic visions of the State’s natural environment.
This program is totally virtual and is 20-minutes long, not including time spent using the provided pre-and-post-virtual visit materials.
